About the International Relations Review

History

The IRR began in mid-2009 when the Boston University International Affairs Association resolved to create an academic journal aligned with Boston University’s vast international relations department. Under the direction of Andrew Facini (CAS ‘10), its first issue included four student articles, six photos, an editorial piece, and an editor’s note. Today, the IRR publishes 120-200 pages of policy-oriented analysis through two annual print issues and a consistent collection of digital commentary.

Since 2011, the Library of Congress has retained physical copies of the IRR catalog, a relationship that allows LOC readers to request past IRR issues in the Jefferson and Adams Building Reading Rooms. The entire IRR volume is stored in the Madison Building Reading Room for Newspapers and Periodicals (LM133).
